OKU game

On Wed 3rd June the OKU's met up for their weekly encounter. They teed up at 11.30. Just for fun, here is a record of that day's play.

• Format: Matchplay.Muk as anchor.Lee & Mus get 5 & 5, Chi Chi 2 & 2. Off White Tees, but can opt to play off Blue. Stakes: 6-4, all fringes (normally not many); 2nd 9 double-up, but fringes remain @ 1 ball.
• 1st 9: Lee & Muk

Mus confirming Format of play at the 1st Tee

After a good drive, Lee plays his 2nd shot to the long par-5, 1st. He played safe.
But his 3rd landed in the lateral hazard on the right. Did he try to play it from there? No way, "Caddie angkat bola!"

• Lee ended up with an 8, Chi Chi had a 7, Mus chipped well and made his putt for a 6 and Muk, who could have won the hole, 3-putted for a 6. Hole was halved.
• 2nd Hole: Lee played 6, the other 3 bogeyed. Mus and Chi 1 Up (because of stroke)
• 3rd Hole: Par-3. Lee drove to the apron (yes, he used his Driver), chipped (or maybe he putted) to 6 ft and made the putt. Chi Chi played a good bunker shot to within 3 ft but missed his par putt. So did Muk. But Mus again chipped well and converted. Mus and Chi Chi still 1 Up.
• 4th Hole: Index 1. Chi Chi went OB and ended up with a quadruple-bogey 8. Muk had some tree trouble and made 6. Lee also had a steady 6. But Mus was again brilliant; after a good drive, a good second shot and an excellent 3rd, he then 2 putted for bogey. Mus and Chi Chi 2Up.
• 5th Hole: All ended up on the apron. Chi Chi chipped; given (nothing new). Lee putted, left it too far and missed his dbl 3. Muk wanted to chip but decided against it and putted instead; also given. Of course Mus made his par. Mus and Chi Chi still 2 Up plus 2 fringes Up (dble 3 and Twin).
• 6th Hole: Muk went OB on his 2nd shot but recovered with a long putt for bogey, which caused Chi Chi to miss his Par putt. Lee's putt for 7 just missed. Steady as a rock Mus bogeyed and with the stroke, Mus and Chi Chi went 3 Up (Dormie 3).
• 7th Hole: Mus got into trouble after entering the right greenside bunker, ended up with 7. Muk's drive went left and had to avoid trees for his 2nd, which he did, but his 3rd was on the top right apron. He experimented with his newly-found chipping technique and flew it 15 ft past. He made 6. Lee had a good 3rd shot (see video), which ended at the front slope, chipped well and made 5. Chi Chi had a good 5-wood 2nd shot, did not chip so well, but made the 5 footer for Par. Mus and Chi now Match Over and 1 Up on Maxi.
• Mus's approach to the 7th. He would find the right bunker, and more trouble after that.

Lee's 3rd to the 7th.

• 8th Hole: Muk had a brilliant drive; passed the dog-leg with just the right touch of draw. He played a good 2nd as well, ending on the right hand side of the green and 2-putted for Par. Chi Chi and Mus had bogeys, only consolation, Lee had a 7. Maxi all-square.
• 9th:Mus & Lee ada stroke. Both Muk and Chi Chi had good drives, but Chi Chi's 2nd was 40 yds from the flag whilst Muk's was at the apron. Chi Chi had a good chip but the ball bounced to the right rather more than he expected and was 1o ft away. Muk putted, but was still 9 ft away. Chi Chi's putt just missed the right lip. Muk made a confident putt for Par. Both Lee And Mus made 6. Lee and Muk won the Maxi; to only lose 4 balls.
• 1.45pm: We had a break for Zohor prayers and some snacks and drinks.
